September 13 - Chado: Japanese Tea Ceremony Demonstration
Please join Atsumi Soatsu Matsuda at Studio Hum from 10am - 12 pm for a Chado lesson for beginners with a special ceremony in the Urasenke tradition. For those who are new to meditation practice, tea ceremony can be a path to entering the larger universe of Zen and its arts. For those who practice zazen, tea ceremony offers an incisive opportunity for expressing the mind of Zen in everyday activity. Matcha green tea will be served along with tea sweets.

September 14 & 28 - Sound and Yoga with Jorja & Josette
Go deep into Yin style yoga pose, finding ease and relaxation with breath and sound. Please bring a mat and a small blanket or towel.

September 21 - Honoring our Mountains and Rivers
As part of the Unicoi County Long-Term Recovery Group’s “Week of Well Wishes”, join us for a personal and public reflection and offering to our mountains and rivers, followed by food, live music, and merriment. Attendees are welcome to stay into the evening and rent a cabin, or pitch a tent if they desire.

October 11 - Intro to Ikebana: Ikenobo Style
This intro to Ikenobo Ikebana, the oldest school of Japanese flower arranging, is led by Sayo Harris. Sayo has been studying Ikenobo ikebana since 2009, and has achieved rank of the Professor of Ikebana, third grade in Ikenobo Floral Art. She teaches ikebana classes at Revolve, a co-op contemporary art space in RAMP studios in Asheville. She enjoys spending time in nature, observing subtle changes and small details. For her, Ikebana is a way to deepen that connection and appreciation. It has brought her much joy, and she would love to share it with you! No experience necessary!

Sunday Morning Zazen
Join us for tea, liturgy and 2 periods of zazen (meditation), followed by a dharma talk streamed live from Zen Mountain Monastery. Those attending for the first time will be given beginning instruction in zazen and a brief orientation to zen practice.
Yoga with Josette
Learn to be more intuitive with your practice and get to know your body better, connecting movement with your breath to expand the mind-body connection.

Community Acupuncture
Linda Tipton, L.Ac will be offering affordable community acupuncture services in the Zendo every other Sunday evening of each month.
Wednesday Evening Zazen
Join us for 2 periods of zazen. Those attending for the first time will be given beginning instruction in zazen and a brief orientation to zen practice.
September 27 - Half Day Sit
Join for a morning of stillness with several periods of Zazen with Kinhin in between. Welcome to all who have had Beginning Instruction in Zazen, which is offered on Sundays. Half Day Sits are a wonderful way to go deeper into your Zazen practice with the support of the Sangha.
